Janine Kitson has announced she will stand as an Independent in the upcoming NSW Election for the seat of Davidson - completing the 'Independent Arc' across northern Sydney. Independent candidates are standing from Sydney Harbour to Palm Beach in the Liberal held NSW seats of North Shore, Lane Cove, Willoughby, Wakehurst, Manly and Pittwater. "After much consideration I am excited to announce that I will stand as an Independent for Davidson. "My platform is to tackle the climate crisis through implementing 'on the ground' renewable energy projects, stopping overdevelopment, implementing stronger environmental laws and ending pork barrelling.
"I oppose the NSW Government's planning policies because they forever promote irresponsible haphazard 'spot rezonings' that override local council planning powers and local community interests. "We need strategic, controlled and sustainable planning - not driven by developers' wish lists. "Too many 'spot rezonings' and overdevelopments are happening including the proposals for: a 300-seat undercover grandstand at North Turramurra in a huge bushfire danger zone surrounded by national park with only one road in and out. clearing of nearly 50 hectares of bushland for over 400 homes at ‘Lizard Rock’ along Belrose's Morgan Road in a high bushfire area. - the demolition of Killara's Lourdes Retirement Village to rebuild seven storey high buildings in a high bushfire area.
18 storeys rezoning for 'Eden Gardens' on the edge of Lane Cove National Park."
Janine Kitson stood as an Independent local government candidate in 2000 and 2004. More recently she stood as an Independent for Bradfield in the Federal election in May 2022. Bradfield achieved one of the biggest swings against a Liberal candidate in the nation. "It's time now for an Independent for Davidson," concluded Janine Kitson. CONTACT: Janine Kitson 0428 860 623 |
