As Sydney prepares to celebrate the 90th Anniversary of the opening of the Sydney Harbour Bridge on 19 March, one Independent is organising her own celebration to honour Dr John Bradfield, the chief engineer who supervised the design and construction of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. Janine Kitson, Independent candidate for Bradfield is organising a celebration to 'cut the ribbon', at Gordon Recreation Park on Saturday 19 March at 5pm. Janine Kitson is a former Ku-ring-gai Councillor, former National Trust Director and former Vice-President of Friends of Ku-ring-gai Environment has led countless heritage tours to the Dr John Bradfield Memorial Garden, corner of Park Avenue and Rosedale Road Gordon, over the years. "Bradfield was not only a brilliant bridge engineer but someone who knew how to built a first class public transport system through the electrification of Sydney's railway network. "It is this energy transformation that we must again reimagine to rapidly decarbonise and get out of our climate mess. "As one of the nation's most affluent, educated and entrepreneurial electorates, Bradfield can do better in leading the nation out of this climate emergency. "I think that Dr Bradfield would have been delighted to know that his local community would be celebrating his vision for a better future, but this time with renewable energy”, concluded Janine Kitson.
