Janine Kitson, Independent candidate for the federal seat of Bradfield, held a pre-Christmas fundraiser with a Gingerbread House as the prize. Janine Kitson, a 'stand alone' Independent, thanked her supporters for their generous donations to her BradfieldCanDoBetter campaign. Janine Kitson is campaigning for authentic action on the climate crisis, integrity reform and safeguarding the ABC. Janine Kitson, Bradfield Independent candidate said: "Some may think a gingerbread house fundraiser is slightly amusing and possibly inconsequential but for me it represents the power of ordinary people doing extraordinary things. This prize is no ordinary Gingerbread House. It was baked and decorated by two Zali Steggall supporters, Clelia and John Koch. The Koch's gingerbread houses have been known to set off seismic shifts on the political landscape. In 2019 one of the Koch's gingerbread houses raised funds for a plaque to commemorate the Lithgow coal mining unionists Vern and Joyce Moffitt who were not only strong unionists but enlightened environmentalists. Once that plaque went up at the Lithgow coal mining museum no one could ever attack 'inner city greenies' for shutting down coal mining again."
On 25 November the NSW Government passed legislation to protect 31,576 hectares of spectacular Gardens of Stone as a State Conservation Area. "Never underestimate the power of a Gingerbread House", concluded Janine Kitson. "You never know when it might be needed to change the landscape".
